This image, taken from Fun Home by Alison Bechdel, is a good example of how she replicates specific artifacts from her childhood in her comic. It is evident that she took special care to try and draw the artifacts with such detail that they are very visually representative of the original object. I plan on using a similar style to replicate a letter from my brother, as well as an essay I wrote about him. I think in this way the objects in a story can take on more of a character role.

This image, taken from Vietnamerica, by GB Tran, is an example of how Tran focuses on specific objects in different pages of his book. I thought this style was powerful and wanted to bring aspects of it into my comic.

This page of photos, taken from Vietnamerica, by GB Tran, allowed Tran so show the real visual representations of the people in his comic. I felt this helped a reader get a better feel for the characters, and I wanted to bring that sense of reality to my comic too.
